Goodreads, the book community site known as the “Facebook of books,” has released its list for 2021! Many readers will share their reviews on Goodreads, and even Bill Gates will rate books on Goodreads too. The 13th Annual Goodreads Choice Awards 2021 have accumulated 4.7 million votes, and here is the list of the best English-language novels of 2021 and the first place winners in each category.

Fiction: Beautiful World, Where Are You (3.76)
After her last novel, Ordinary People, took second place in 2018, author Sally Rooney is on Goodreads’ Novel of the Year list this time with her new book, A Beautiful World, Where You Are! It’s a story about love, life, and friendship.

Best Suspense Novel: The Last Thing He Told Me (3.95)
The story begins with a “protect her” note left by Owen Michaels to his wife Hannah Hall after he disappears, referring to his 16-year-old stepdaughter Bailey, who loathes her stepmother. The arrest of Owen’s business partner and the sudden arrival of investigators at their home are signs that make the two realize there’s more to it than that.

Best Humorous Novel: Broken (4.15)
The author uses humor to describe the problems she encounters in her life, sharing her perspective on people and things from the point of view of someone who is depressed, taking an honest and positive look at depression.
