The government will open applications for BKM subsidy on January 1, and eligible persons can receive up to RM2500.

According to the news issued by the Ministry of Finance of Malaysia, the Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia (BKM) will be open for applications from January 1 to January 31, 2022. The BKM subsidy will be issued in 4 stages, and the first stage will be issued in March.

If you are an existing BPR, BKC, or GKP subsidy recipient, you do not need to update the information if the information has not been changed. Eligible persons will be automatically included in the BKM aid list.

If you have previously applied for BPR, BKC, or GKP assistance, but your application is rejected, you will automatically be included in the BKM subsidy list. The government will review the information you previously submitted, and qualified people will automatically receive BKM assistance.

As for people who have changed their information or have never applied for BPR, BKC, and GKP assistance, you can apply from 1st January 2022 to January 31. The Ministry of Finance will announce the BKM application website at a later date.

Under the BKM subsidy program, the government divides the beneficiaries into 4 groups, that is:

  1. families with a monthly income not more than RM2,500
  2. families with a monthly income between RM2,501 to RM5,000
  3. singles or widowed senior citizens with a monthly income not more than RM5, 000 
  4. singles with a monthly income of not more than RM2,500

For the family group with a monthly income of not more than RM2,500

  1. RM1,000 without children
  2. RM1,500 with 1 to 2 children
  3. RM2,000 with 3 children or more.

Families with a monthly income between RM2,501 to RM5,000

  1. RM400 if they have no children
  2. RM600 if they have 1 to 2 children
  3. RM800 if they have 3 or more children.

The family group of senior citizens can get an extra RM300

Example 1

If you are a senior citizen family with 3 children whose monthly income does not exceed RM2,500, you can get RM2,300. Single fathers or single mothers can also get an additional RM500. 

Example 2 

When you are a single-parent family with 3 children whose monthly income does not exceed RM2,500, you can get RM2,500.

Single or widowed senior citizens with a monthly income of not more than RM5,000 can receive RM600. Singles with a monthly income of not more than RM2,500 can get RM350.
