Battery Life and Lifespan Optimization tips from Apple

The amount of time your gadget can run before it needs to be recharged is referred to as “battery life.” The “battery lifespan” refers to how long your battery will survive before it needs to be changed. If you take use of both, you’ll get the most out of your Apple products, regardless of which ones you have.

Extreme temperatures should be avoided.

Your gadget is built to work in a wide variety of temperatures, with the best comfort zone being 16° to 22° C. It’s especially vital to keep your smartphone away from temperatures above 35° C, as this will permanently harm the battery capacity. That is, your battery will not last as long on a single charge. Charging the item in a hot environment will damage it even more. When the recommended battery temperatures are exceeded, software may prevent charging above 80%. Even storing a battery in a heated environment might cause irreversible damage to the battery. You may notice a reduction in battery life when using your smartphone in an extremely cold environment, although this is only temporary. The battery’s performance will return to normal once the temperature returns to its usual operating range.

During charging, some cases should be removed.

Charging your cellphone while it’s in some types of cases can cause it to overheat, reducing battery capacity. If your gadget becomes hot while being charged, remove it from its case first. Make sure the magnetic charging case cover is removed on Apple Watch Edition versions.

When storing it for a long time, keep it half-charged.

Two main elements will affect the overall health of your battery if you wish to store your device for a long time: the ambient temperature and the percentage of charge on the battery when it’s powered off for storage. As a result, we suggest the following:

  • Charge your device’s battery to roughly 50% instead of fully charging or totally discharging it. If you keep a gadget with a fully depleted battery, the battery may go into a deep discharge state, rendering it unable to hold a charge. In contrast, storing it fully charged for a lengthy period of time may cause the battery to lose capacity, resulting in a lower battery life.
  • To avoid wasting more battery, turn off the gadget.
  • Place your device in a cold, dry place with a temperature of less than 32° C.
  • Charge your gadget to 50% every six months if you expect to keep it for longer than six months.

When you remove your device from long-term storage, it may be in a low-battery state, depending on how long you stored it. It may take up to 20 minutes of charging using the original adapter once it’s been taken from storage before you can use it.
