The PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia program is expected to open applications from April 15, 2022.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said in a post on his Twitter account that the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOMM) is currently setting up an application website for the scheme, so it is expected to start the formal open application from April 15.

In addition, according to previously released information, under the PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia program, B40 students with a monthly household income of RM4,850 or less can apply for a free tablet for learning purposes.

The program covers students, including freshmen, from public and private institutions of higher education, community colleges and higher education departments.

The government will allocate RM450 million to promote the above-mentioned programs, and it is expected that there will be 400,000 or 600,000 tertiary students from B40 low-income families to benefit.

Once the application is approved, the authorities are expected to distribute the devices gradually in the first week of June. For those with incomplete applications, appeal cases and missed students, it will be implemented in the second stage, which is 60 days after the first stage.

In addition, the minister also stated that some minimum specifications have been established for these free distribution tablets, namely, a screen size of not less than 10.1 cm, a keyboard and a stylus, and a capacity of not less than 4GB of RAM.
