Thursday, August 4 of the solar calendar is the seventh day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar, also known as Chinese Valentine’s Day.

Chinese Valentine’s Day is a traditional festival in the Chinese region, falling on the seventh day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar each year. The formation of the Chinese Valentine’s Day Festival is related to the folk tale of the Cowherd and the Weaving Maiden, which can have its earliest origin probably in the Spring and Autumn and Warring States period. Chinese Valentine’s Day is also known as the Chinese Valentine’s Day.

The Legend of the Cowherd and the Weaving Maiden.

Once upon a time there was an orphan boy named Cowherd, who was very hardworking but lived a poor life. One day, under the guidance of an old cow, the cowherd took the clothes of the weaving maiden who was bathing in the lake, and the weaving maiden also loved the cowherd, and the two were married. From then on, the man plowed and the woman wove, living a happy and prosperous life.

Who knows that the weaving maid came down to earth to enjoy the joy of heaven with the cowherd, and wasted the cloth weaving. When the Queen Mother knew, she was furious and sent heavenly soldiers to catch the weaving girl back to the heavenly palace.

The cowherd, with the help of an old cow, used a basket to carry his children and chased them to heaven. When the queen mother saw the cowherd chasing him, she used the golden hairpin on her head to draw a big river between the weaving girl and the cowherd, which is the Milky Way.

The river separated the Cowherd and the Weaving Maid from each other, and they could only cry and look at each other across the river. Later, the Queen Mother saw them crying very sad, moved by compassion, ordered magpies to build a bridge.

In the evening of the seventh day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar, the Cowherd and the Weaving Maid meet on the bridge made by magpies to tell their heartfelt feelings.
