Attention, Maybank2u users! From December 15th, when you pay your bills through the web version of Maybank2u, you will only be able to verify the transaction through Secure2u.
According to a message issued by Maybank, to strengthen the security system of online banking, users must use Secure2u to verify the transaction when paying bills through the web version of Maybank2u. Users will no longer receive SMS TAC.
This measure will start from December 15, 2021, and will only be available on the web version of Maybank2u. Users are urged to activate the Secure2u function in the Maybank APP to conduct transactions more securely. As for users who have already activated Secure2u, there is no need to perform any activation actions.
Maybank is gradually making Secure2u the preferred option for verifying bank transactions. Users can only verify transactions through Secure2u when conducting transactions of a specific amount. Maybank began to reduce the number of transactions that require Secure2u verification in February, March, October, and November this year, that is, gradually reduced from RM5,000 to RM1,000. This means that when users use Maybank2u to transfer more than RM1,000, they will only receive the Secure2u verification pop-up window instead of SMS TAC. Now, Secure2u’s verification requirements are delegated to verifying billing transactions.
The so-called Secure2u means that when you trade on Maybank2u, the Maybank APP will pop up a verification window, and you only need to click Approve to complete the transaction. Secure2u can avoid the trouble of not receiving SMS, and it is more secure and reliable. The reason why Secure2u is more secure than SMS TAC is that Secure2u can only be used on verified mobile phones. Those phones that have not been verified will not be able to use your Secure2u.
When you use the Maybank APP on your new mobile phone, you will receive a six-digit verification code via SMS to verify the phone, and then your Maybank APP will be bound to the phone. After each transaction, only the bound mobile phone can receive the Secure2u pop-up window. Even if a stranger knows your Maybank2u password, as long as the binding is not passed, they will not receive Secure2u. This alone is more secure than SMS TAC.
The second benefit of Secure2u is that there will be no trouble waiting for SMS TAC. Sometimes the line is not good, or the telecommunications company system is faulty, then the user cannot receive the SMS TAC. Secure2u will not have this trouble, as long as your network is good, then you can receive the Secure2u verification pop-up window.
For Maybank users who have not enabled the Secure2u function, you can open the new Maybank APP, click on the Secure2u below on the login page, and follow the instructions to register.
