Beneficiaries of ASNB account holders who pass away will be charged up to 1.50 percent fee to claim their deposits.
According to the official website of the National Trust (ASNB), families will be required to pay a fee of between 0.10% and 1.50% when claiming the deceased’s ASNB deposits. The fee will be calculated on a tiered basis.
The first RM25,000 will be subject to a 1.50% fee, the next RM225,000 deposit will be subject to a 1.00% fee, the next RM250,000 deposit will be subject to a 0.50% fee, the next RM500,000 will be subject to a 0.25% fee, and the remaining deposits will be subject to a 0.10% fee.
For example, if an ASNB unitholder holds RM200,000 units before his/her death, he/she is required to pay RM375 for the first RM25,000, RM1,750 for the next RM175,000 and a total of RM2,125.
The beneficiary is required to pay RM2,125 when he/she receives back the RM200,000 deposit.
