The number of flood victims in Perak, Selangor, Johor, Kelantan, Melaka, and Penang had decreased.
As of 6.30 p.m. yesterday, the number of flood victims in six states, namely Perak, Selangor, Johor, Kelantan, Melaka, and Penang, had decreased compared to this morning.
According to a spokesman for the state Disaster Management Committee secretariat, three relief centres (PPS) in the districts of Hilir Perak, Perak Tengah, and Larut Matang and Selama (LMS) have been closed after floodwaters receded in several affected areas in Perak.
408 victims from 114 families were still placed in five PPS in four districts, namely Hilir Perak, Kerian, Manjung, Perak Tengah, and LMS, as opposed to 524 victims from 153 families yesterday morning.
Meanwhile, the number of flood evacuees at the PPS Dewan Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Layang-Layang Kiri increased from 94 to 107.
In Selangor, the number of flood victims decreased this afternoon to 187 from 51 families, down from 196 from 55 families this morning, according to the Social Welfare Department’s InfoBencana website.
In Kedah, the state Civil Defence Force (APM) Disaster Management Committee secretariat head Major (PA) Muhammad Suhaimi Mohd Zain said that the two PPSs opened in Kulim and Bandar Baharu districts for 53 people from 14 families were closed today after the floodwaters receded.
In Penang, state APM operations sector assistant director Maj (PA) Kamal Jakarinah said the number of flood victims admitted to the PPS at Dewan Banjir Desa Puri has also decreased to 30 from five families, down from 42 from 12 families this morning.
According to the JKM’s InfoBencana website, the number of flood victims in Kelantan has also decreased to 1,925 from 647 families, down from 2,036 people involving 686 families this morning.
The State Disaster Management Committee secretariat in Melaka said in a statement that the number of flood victims at the PPS Office of the State Legislative Assembly Development and Coordination Committee Offices (Japerun), Durian Tunggal has dropped to 48 from 13 families, down from 53 this morning.
Following the closure of PPS Sekolah Kebangsaan Melayu Raya, Pontian, the number of flash flood victims in Johor fell to 330 this afternoon, down from 345 this morning, according to the state District Disaster Management Committee.
According to the National Disaster Management Agency, a total of 3,107 victims from 969 heads of households (HHHs) were placed in 26 PPS as of noon yesterday (Nadma).
All eight incidents occurred in Kelantan and Negri Sembilan, with two each in Perak, Terengganu, Johor, and Pahang.
