According to a message from Finance Minister, government will soon be giving out RM150 eStart e-wallets to youths aged 18 to 20. The scheme involves RM300 million and will benefit 2 million youths.
The eStart e-purse incentive is a policy announced by Finance Minister in his budget speech at the end of October last year. All young people aged between 18 and 20 years old can receive RM150 through the eWallet platform. eStart Rewards are also available to full-time enrolled tertiary students aged 21 years or above.
The eStart eWallet Reward aims to encourage people to use cashless payments to forge a more convenient and transparent payment method. Cashless payments can also reduce the cost of printing banknotes for the government.
Referring to the eWallet Rewards Scheme launched by government in the past 2 years, eligible people can receive rewards through eWallet platforms such as Boost, Touch ‘n Go eWallet, BigPay, ShopeePay and GrabPay.
Government has not yet announced how to apply for the eStart eWallet rewards and the date when applications will open.
