Ahmad Zahid pointed out that the people prefer to use their own deposits rather than loans to tide over the difficulties!
Umno Chairman Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid posted on Facebook on December 30, urging the government to listen to the voices of the people and extend the i-Citra provident fund withdrawal plan. The government should have political will, because the people need cash flow to improve the situation.
Ahmad Zahid pointed out that Tengku Zafrul, the Minister of Finance put forward various reasons for refusing to extend the i-Citra withdrawal plan, but facts have proved that this measure can indeed be achieved. The people are unwilling to repay debts with debts, digging holes and filling pits, and the people are no longer able to amortize their existing debts.
Earlier, Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri said that the government will not launch the EPF withdrawal plan for the time being, because many people’s EPF are already less than RM1,000, which will result in people becoming extremely poor immediately after retirement. The Prime Minister also pointed out that the aid projects and loan projects launched by the government are sufficient for the people to rebuild after the disaster.
The KWSP also issued a statement stating that it does not support the extension of the i-Citra withdrawal plan. The KWSP emphasized that the i-Sinar and i-Lestari plans launched in 2020 are special cases. The purpose of these measures is to allow the public to have emergency cash flow during the movement control order and the economic downturn. No provision in the EPF Act allows members to withdraw funds in the disasters.
