After SADA closed as a result of the Baling floods, approximately 200,000 Kedahan had water supply disruption.
Due to the floods and water surge occurrence in Baling on Monday, the operations of the Kulim Hi-Tech Park Water Treatment Plant (LRA) and the Bukit Pinang/Sungai Petani LRA had to be suspended due to high raw water turbidity (Nephelometric Turbidity unit).
In a statement on his Facebook today, Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor stated that the two LRAs were completely shut down yesterday at 10.50 p.m. and 11.10 p.m.
80,000 users in Kulim Hi-Tech Park and 121,000 users in Pinang Tunggal/Sungai Petani would be affected by the temporary outages. Due to the LRA closures, Syarikat Air Darul Aman (SADA) would send clean water to the impacted communities via trucks and tankers.
More than 1,400 residents had to be moved to three temporary evacuation camps after the 4pm accident took three lives (PPS). About 70 other homes suffered damage, and seven were entirely demolished.
