11/08/2022

Selangor and KL areas will be experiencing water disruption due to water pollution in Sungai Semantan.

According to an announcement made today by Air Selangor, the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant (LRA Langat 2) has been temporarily shut down due to the presence of pollutants in Sungai Semantan in Karak, Pahang, as a result of an accident on the Karak-Bentong highway.

397 regions in Kuala Lumpur (KL), Petaling, and Hulu Langat would be affected by the water supply interruption, primarily those who live in KL and Hulu Langat.

In response to chemical contamination in Sungai Semantan, Karak, Pahang as a result of an accident on the Karak-Bentong Highway KM75.9 heading towards Kuala Lumpur yesterday, Air Selangor would like to announce the temporary suspension of the LRA Langat 2 at 4:30am, August 11, 2022.

On August 11, 2022, at 3:30 pm, LRA Langat 2 is anticipated to resume operations in order to commence the raw water treatment process. When the water supply distribution system has been stabilised, the distribution of treated water supply to users will start.

According to Air Selangor, users will receive alternative assistance via water tankers, with priority given to crucial premises.

In order to lessen the impact of the disruption on the impacted users, Air Selangor is making every effort possible.
