After the interview, a man declined the offer, but the company requested the RM22 for the cup of coffee back!

Recently, a man in Singapore who had been searching for employment encountered an interview that left him speechless. He shared on social media that he had an interview with a corporate representative earlier in a coffee shop and that the other party had extended an invitation for him to enjoy a cup of coffee during the meeting. However, the man made the decision to decline the job offer since he desired a position with greater stability.

He assumed that this would be the “end” of my “fate” with this company, but he wasn’t prepared for the other party to ask him for the coffee money during the interview.

“By the way, your cup of coffee last week cost 6.50 SGD Yuan (about RM22); Do pay now, thanks.”

The man responded, “I have gone to several interviews, but I have never been asked to pay back the coffee,” despite being shocked by the other person’s actions. He still transferred the money to the other party. I would have taken action if I knew. It now appears extremely unprofessional when deciding to pay cash on the spot. Please let your future interviewees know that if they decline the job offer, they will be required to pay for the coffee.

Following the incident, the company manager called to apologize, and the person in question also sent him S$6.50 (about RM22). He made it clear that he didn’t want to make a big deal out of this incident.
