2 groups will no longer be eligible for free Covid-19 vaccination after May 15.
Is there anyone in the family above the age of 5 who hasn’t been vaccinated? Don’t forget to get your child the Covid-19 vaccine before May 15.
The government has set a May 15 deadline for children aged 5 to 11 to take the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine as part of the Childhood Covid-19 Vaccination Program, according to the Ministry of Health (PICKids). As of May 16, the Ministry of Health will no longer offer free vaccines to children in this age group.
By May 15, parents must decide whether or not to vaccinate their children. From May 16, children aged 5 to 11 who have not got their first dose of the vaccine yet need to pay for the Sinovac administered at a private facility. Parents should register their children for vaccines on MySejahtera by May 8 in order to receive an appointment by May 15.
The policy, however, is only applicable to children aged 6 to 12 years old, as well as children born in 2017 who turned 5 before May 15.
If your child was born in 2017, but his or her birthday falls between May 16 and December 31, the Covid-19 vaccine is still free. At MySejahtera, you can still register your child for the Covid-19 vaccine.
If your child has already got the first dose of the vaccine, the second dosage will be given to them for free.
It is well understood that vaccine demand for children is low, resulting in a substantial amount of vaccines being wasted. The Ministry of Health has decided to limit the first dosage of the vaccination until May 15 in order to avoid wasting vaccines.
