The vaccination programme for 12 – to 17-year-olds is likely to start in September!
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin told a news conference that the government would prioritize vaccinating adults and reach a certain level before vaccinating 12 – to 17-year-olds. It is not yet possible to set a date for vaccinating teenagers, depending on the availability of the vaccine.
The vaccination programme for young people will be based on age, with 15-17 year olds being the first to be vaccinated, followed by 12-14 year olds. As for children under 12, the Ministry of Health is waiting for a childhood vaccine from Pfizer. It is understood that the doses used in childhood vaccines can vary.
Khairy Jamaluddin also told a news conference that more detailed coronavirus data will be released starting next week to avoid giving the public the impression that the health ministry is hiding something.
In addition, medical resources and vaccines will be transferred from states where the epidemic is slowing down to states where it is still serious, such as Johor, Kedah and Sabah.
