The Ministry is working to solve child sexual exploitation on the internet.
The fact that the police have received tens of thousands of internet protocol (IP) addresses suspected of disseminating child pornography on the internet over the past several years is taken seriously by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development.
Its minister, Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun, stated that in order to protect children in the country, all members of the community must work together.
In this regard, she stated that her ministry, through the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN), will work with CyberSecurity Malaysia to develop advocacy and awareness-raising programmes to educate parents about cyber-threats.
Many more collaborations with CyberSecurity are underway in order to provide a secure cyber environment for youngsters. They will collaborate as an unit.
Rina said she held special discussions with the Communications and Multimedia Commission and the Integrated Action Committee on the Management of Child-related Issues on Social Media, in addition to meetings and discussions with the police’s Sexual, Women and Children Crime Investigation Division (D11).
Bernama previously reported that the police received 93,368 IP addresses suspected of being involved in child pornography through an information-sharing system involving members such as the International Police Criminal Organisation (Interpol), the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the National Centre For Missing and Exploited Children from 2017 to March this year.
Rina also visited the Digital Forensic Laboratory, MyCERT Laboratory, and CyberSAFE L.I.V.E — a gallery recognized by the Malaysia Book of Records as the ‘First Cyber Security Gallery’ in Malaysia — during her visit to CyberSecurity Malaysia today.
Datuk Ts Dr Amirudin Abdul Wahab, the chief executive officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia, and his colleagues also presented briefings on the agency’s operations.
