Phase 1 of the Sarawak Pan Borneo Highway is 86% finished.
According to Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, phase one of the Pan Borneo Highway project in Sarawak is currently 86% finished.
Several more highway segments, he said, should open this year, and three more, in Sarikei, Bukit Begunan, and Lambir, should be finished the following year.
The three divisions are dealing with a number of difficulties, including a site that needs to be reviewed. Some even need to have the design reprocessed because of the inappropriate ground conditions.
Phase one of the RM16.117 billion Pan Borneo Highway entails building a 786km section of road from Telok Melano to Miri.
The Trans Borneo Highway (LTB) Project and the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR) Phase 2 Project’s procurement aspects are now being finalised, and a ceiling allocation of RM12 billion has been established for each project.
The SSLR Phase 2 Project and the LTB Project were authorised by the federal government, according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who made the announcement on August 7. Construction might start as early as next year. Construction is anticipated to take three to five years, and technical study for the Phase 2 SSLR and LTB project, which connects Miri, Limbang, and Lawas, is currently in its final stages. The project, according to the prime minister, will help people in Mulu, Long Seridan, Nanga Medamit, Long Lopeng, Ba’kelalan, and Merarap who presently rely on logging roads to get to work because it will provide them two options for accessing Sabah’s road network.
