Around 500 victims in of Baling floods were shuttled to relief institutions.
Firefighters conducted an operation that officially finished today that resulted in the rescue and evacuation of 499 flood victims from 109 families in Baling, Kedah, to three relief centres (PPS).
Datuk Seri Reezal Merican, Minister of Housing and Local Government 164 of the total victims were placed at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Jerai, 78 at Sekolah Menengah Agama Yayasan Khairiah, and 257 at Surau An Nur, Taman Mesra, according to Naina Merican.
I’ve given the Fire and Rescue Department and PBS (the Volunteer Fire Brigade) the go-ahead to begin cleaning up the damaged homes and roads so that the victims can return to them right away.
Reezal Merican pledged to make sure that local governments and the Social Welfare Department work together to carry out an integrated post-flood operation by agencies under his ministry.
