According to Khairy, the parents of an adolescent who died 18 days after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine agreed to further tests to identify the reason of death.
More tests are needed, according to Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, before the cause of Revnesh Kumar’s death can be identified.
The 13-year-old died 18 days after receiving his first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination, which he received on January 16.
Khairy made his remarks following a meeting with Revnesh’s parents, Naresh Kumar Lachmenou and Vijayarani Govindan, in which it was agreed that the ministry will take all necessary procedures to determine the cause of death.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah and Serdang Hospital forensic specialist Dr Emizam Mohamadon were also present at the meeting.
According to Khairy, the findings of the autopsy and all previous tests, including the histological examination, would be presented and reviewed among forensic specialists at a peer-review session on March 7, 2022 for confirmation.
Following the completion of the peer-review session, the post-mortem report and any following test results will be sent to the deceased’s parents.
Simultaneously, the Ministry of Health intends to undertake additional testing on tissue samples, which may need to be transferred abroad for further study. I’ve made a personal commitment to see that this is taken care of right away.
Khairy also promised to provide periodic updates on the case and encouraged the public to respect the family’s privacy and stop spreading false information about the teen’s death.
Khairy stated yesterday that he would see Revnesh’s parents and show them the report from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation’s (Mosti) Chemistry Department on their son’s death.
Revnesh died on February 3, 18 days after receiving his first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination on January 16 at Klinik Kesihatan in Presint 18, Putrajaya, according to the New Straits Times (NST).
He died after fainting inside a lift while on his way to a karate lesson, according to a February 21 news storey from NST.
Naresh, his father, hurried his son to Kajang Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
His parents told the newspaper that their son was an active and healthy child who had never had any health problems since birth.
