Some motorcycle riders were found to have been utilising a “L” licence for quite some time.

A few riders of powerful motorcycles were observed driving for an extended amount of time while on their learner’s permit (L Licence), including while taking part in a motorcycle convoy.

Aedy Fadly Ramli, the deputy director-general for planning and operations at the Road Transport Department (JPJ), reported that upon investigation it was discovered they had never changed their L licence to a B-Full class licence.

He therefore recommended the motorcycle riders to obtain their B-Full class licence as soon as possible to avoid harsh legal action in the future.

In the meanwhile, he claimed that as a result of the operation, which got underway at 8 am today, more than 3,000 motorcycles had been examined, and 796 of them had had various infractions dealt with.

Driving without a valid licence or having no insurance was among the most common traffic offences.
