A sore throat or cough that lasts longer than three days could be an Omicron variant virus!
According to the South Korean news outlet “Asian Economic News,” if a sore throat and cough last more than three days, there is a high risk of infection with Omicron even if there is no fever. A coronavirus test is highly recommended.
Sore throat, runny nose, and headache are some of the symptoms of the Omicron variant virus. Omicron infects the respiratory tract and causes symptoms that are comparable to the common cold. The virus’s Delta version attacks the lower respiratory tract, which can lead to lung infections.
South Korea also intends to administer a fourth dosage of the vaccine to adults over the age of 60 and those who are immunocompromised. Every day, more than 6,000 new cases in South Korea’s high-risk groups over the age of 60 are diagnosed.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), four months after receiving the third dosage of the vaccine, protection diminishes dramatically, and high-risk groups may require a fourth treatment.
