Last September, an Iranian woman was murdered for refusing the hijab. Thus, the National Hijab Revolution Demonstration is still going strong today. There have been many contentious discussions recently after it was reported that an Iranian couple was jailed for 10.5 years after posting a video of themselves dancing in the street online.
According to comprehensive media reports, the young celebrity couples Amir Mohammad Ahmadi, 22, and Astiyazh Haghighi, 21, are both betrothed. Due to the two posting their lovely statements on the street, they have 2 million followers on social media. However, it gained national attention online and was locked up by the law in November of the previous year.
The couple can be seen dancing and hugging each other in the video that is going around the Internet. Ahmadi gave his fiancee a hug as well; she seemed to be in love. Additionally, Hajiji chose not to wear a hijab in the video, purportedly in support of Amini, a 22-year-old woman who was arrested for not wearing a hijab last September but passed away unexpectedly while in prison.
Tehran’s Azadi Tower is a well-known and sensitive landmark. Early in the 1970s, under the rule of the last Iranian Shah Pahlavi, the Azadi Tower was dedicated. The King’s Memorial Tower was its original name. In 1979, the Pahlavi King was removed and rename. This couple was reportedly detained by the police on November 10 of last year after the police saw the footage. Additionally, officers in full uniform attacked them. Both two received a 10.5-year prison term after being accused of “corruption and encouraging prostitution.”
