Muhammad Faddrullah, a hotel customer service manager in Malaysia, sparked tense discussions among netizens by stepping out in a chiffon and lace Malay suit to celebrate Hari Raya.
Everyone is entitled to the right to free speech, he added, but his family didn’t seem to object. “Even my siblings take pictures of me on Raya morning,” he said.
Faddrullah develops an unforgettable Raya outfit for himself each year. He holds a UiTM Diploma in Fashion Design and a Bachelor of Tourism Management.
His Malay outfits this year, as opposed to traditional Malay clothing, are constructed of chiffon and lace. He stated that he also has a collection of Teluk Belanga and Cekak Musang with a straight turtleneck style that is worn for formal events other than Raya.
Depending on how many days of Raya’s holiday there are, he always finds time to make apparel for himself on the eve of Hari Raya after finishing the orders from his part time business. According to him, the price of a garment varies depending on what material is used; a shirt is typically more expensive than RM 2000.
