According to sources, on December 22 of last year, a father of six children was arrested for stealing 30 grocery products worth RM664.70, including two 5kg bags of rice, from a supermarket in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Due to his strange behavior on that day and his not showing any payment receipts, the 35-year-old father was stopped by several security staff when he exited the supermarket.

When charged in court, the father apologized to the magistrate and begged for forgiveness. He said that this was his first infraction and that he was his family’s main provider of money. His wife was a stay-at-home mother of six kids. To take care of his family and children, he stole this time. Investigating officer Kevin requested that the court administer a suitable punishment in this case and demanded that all knickknacks be given back to their original owners. In the end, the court gave the father a 5-month prison term.
