Boeing Co. has been facing heavy challenges recently, after a passenger jet’s door jam came off in mid-air causing the plane maker’s most important model to face severe scrutiny, and the head of Boeing’s 737 Max program has chosen to leave the company on Wednesday (21).
Boeing disclosed in an internal memo Wednesday that Ed Clark’s departure is effective immediately, ending his nearly 18 years of service with the company, Bloomberg reported.
Katie Ringgold will replace Ed as vice president and general manager of the 737 program and head the Renton, Washington, plant.
The near-catastrophic accidents involving Boeing MAX airplanes have preoccupied Boeing executives in the past.
Boeing has previously faced issues including the latest discovery of drilling errors in the fuselage of the 737 Max, increased oversight by the Federal Aviation Administration and restrictions on the expansion of production of related models until quality improves.
