A local employer is recruiting oil palm plantation workers. The salary is only RM14 a day, and the working hours are more than 10 hours, with only a 20-minute break in between. This has aroused heated discussion among netizens, who bluntly said that this is an “inhumane” job!

According to the online media “mStar”, an employer posted on Facebook that he wanted to hire oil palm plantation employees, whose main job would be to cut down and clear oil palm trees and grass.

According to the job advertisement, employees are paid only RM14 a day and work from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for more than 10 hours, with only a 20-minute break in between.

“Looking for 4 oil palm plantation employees to cut down oil palm trees and grass in the plantation. The salary is RM14 per day.”

Not only that, but the employer also stated that employees must provide their own transportation to work, but other tools used in work will be provided by him.

“Sickles and parang knives will be provided, and transportation to the workplace must be your own responsibility.”

The employer also said in a self-proclaimed benevolent gesture that employees who are willing to work overtime until 8pm will be paid an additional “overtime pay” of RM2.50.

He also emphasized that after a day’s work, the rest time is limited to 12:30 to 12:50 noon, and the rest time is only 20 minutes.

However, netizens unanimously criticized the employer, saying that the wages he provided were “too inhumane”, the wages provided were too low, and the working hours were simply outrageous.

“Boss, why don’t you do it yourself! It saves money and you don’t have to pay anyone.”

Netizens also expressed anger at the 20-minute break period set by their employer, saying that the employer was basically abusing employees.

“Boss, I’ll give you RM50 a day, and you go and complete these tasks.”

“Boss, why are you so cruel? Just burn down the oil palm estate. The cost may be less than RM14.”
