The eMadani RM100 e-wallet program’s successful applicants have started using the funds for in-store purchases at participating retail locations.
Kebang Libau, 45, was one of them; yesterday, he used the e-money to purchase necessities at a Sibu Jaya supermarket.
The Sibu Jaya housewife spent RM110 on a packet of 10 kg rice, eggs, chicken nuggets, cream crackers, concentrated cordial, and detergent powder. She also had to pay an extra RM10.
“On Monday, December 4, my daughter assisted me in submitting my application through the Touch n Go e-wallet provider, and the following day, it was approved.
“My daughter’s application was denied because of a mistake in registering her MyKad number, but the rest of us in my family are eligible for aid,” she stated, noting that her daughter had filed an appeal with the e-wallet provider.
In the meantime, 32-year-old Frida Japing and her spouse intended to use the RM100 assistance for groceries and other necessities.
“We’ll utilize the funds for groceries and necessities for our three kids, like milk formula and underwear,” she stated, mentioning that their applications were accepted on Tuesday.
“My spouse also needs to pay our room rental, utility bills, and other expenses, so our combined e-credit amount will be sufficient to cover this month’s expenses,” she stated.
Kennedy Enddy, a different qualified recipient from Sungai Sibau in Kapit, stated he was still unsure about his plans for the eMadani aid that had been credited to his MAE account on December 5.
Since the e-credit can be used until February 20 of the following year, there is no rush, so maybe I will go to Sibu on Friday and do my shopping there, he said.
Meanwhile, Mila Sumping from Sekuau reported that she had applied on Tuesday and was awaiting approval.
In the meantime, a Kanowit resident reported having trouble utilizing the eMadani credit to make a payment via the MAE app.
Nur Sabrina Abdullah, 35, stated, “I think it’s because retailers are confused that the e-credit can only be used within the same e-wallet providers.”
When I told the retailers I was using my MAE e-wallet, they wouldn’t let me scan their e-wallet QR code to pay for my purchase.“There are only a few shops in Kanowit that provide e-wallet services, and therefore, I think I will use my e-credit to shop in Sibu as there are more shops there using e-wallet services,” she added. ― Borneo Post
