According to Rafizi Ramli, three mechanisms are likely to be used to implement targeted subsidies for petrol and diesel in 2024.
Individual net disposable income will serve as the basis for the first mechanism, the Economy Minister informed the Dewan Rakyat.
Through social protection or assistance programmes, net disposable household income will serve as the basis for the second mechanism.
Utilising a subsidies card, the third will be a combination of individual and household earnings.
According to Rafizi, the targeted subsidies programme will go into effect following the January 2019 launch of the Central Database Hub (Padu) system.
“Besides the form and mechanism of targeted subsidies, the Cabinet will decide on implementation and follow-up plans,” he stated.
Plans for support, interaction, and communication are among them.
