In the women’s doubles final of yesterday’s Malaysia Super 500, Pearly Tan and Thinaah competed against Lee Soo Hee and Baek Ha Na of South Korea. They fell in three rounds after 1 hour, 41 minutes of a tough battle, losing the chance to win the championship for the first time at home.
Excluding the 40 minutes they played in the first round, Pearly and Thinaah played 89 minutes, 111 minutes, 93 minutes, and 101 minutes in the second round, top 8, semi-finals, and the current final, accordingly. A total of 434 minutes were played during the entire event.
The result was that Pearly and Thiaah were behind their opponents by 17 to 20 in the final because they were completely worn out. Thiaah nearly passed out from vomiting. The referee gave the signal for the game to resume as soon as she took a break on the sidelines.
