The rope suddenly broke when the man played “Bungy Jump,” and he fell directly into the lake!

A man from Hong Kong traveled to Pattaya, Thailand, in February 2023 with his fellow employees, and while there, he visited a place to practice bungee jumping, according to a report by “Hong Kong 01”. The rope on the man’s feet unexpectedly snapped when it was his turn to “jump,” and he fell into the lake.

The unfortunate man’s name was Mike. Although the fact that he was fortunate to escape serious injury, the incident left him with numerous wounds to his left body, his chest, and his lungs. Mike then spread his arms and leaped from a height of nearly 30 meters. The rope holding his feet to the boat unexpectedly snapped when he was just 5 meters from the water, sending him dropping into the lake.

Mike, who fell into the lake, was in severe discomfort all over his body, had skinless armpits, and had a red and swollen left eye. He conducted ultrasounds and X-rays. Mike declared and made a claim to the park since he was really dissatisfied. The staff informed them that only 2,300 Hong Kong dollars (about RM 1,300) could be reimbursed, which included the costs for the bungee jump and 1,800 Hong Kong dollars (around RM 1,024) for outpatient emergency care in Thailand. Mike has to agree to release the park from responsibility if he wants to submit a claim for medical costs once he returns to Hong Kong. Mike was incredibly dissatisfied and would not sign the contract.

Mike’s medical bills from the accident totaled more than HK$50,000 (about RM28,500). He was able to recover the costs from the insurance carrier because he had both travel insurance and his primary insurance. He has complained via email to the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Facebook about the Thai authorities’ attitude, hoping that they will address the unfair compensation and safety concerns of the park to ensure the safety of visitors. However, he has not yet heard back from the other party.
