The teen who gained notoriety after being called names for describing a Charles & Keith bag, which retails for S$80 (RM264), as a luxury item, has been hired as a spokesperson for the Singaporean company.
17-year-old Zoe Gabriel, who took the photo for local brand Charles & Keith in honor of International Women’s Day, posted it to Instagram with a message of kindness and equality through fairness, as reported by 8 Vision News.
Charles & Keith, in support of the UN Women’s Gender Equality Campaign, will be releasing a purple version of their best-selling handbag to coincide with International Women’s Day.
The girl was the sole brand ambassador from her community, and one of nine women invited to demonstrate the bag.
The number of community ambassadors for the brand was not disclosed. Still, anyone interested in being considered for an invitation to promote the brand’s new products can sign up for the community ambassador program on the company website.
When Zoe’s dad gave her a Charles & Keith bag for Christmas, she posted a video on TikTok showing it off. Some trolls called the S$79.90 bag ridiculous, though.
Later, she posted a video expressing her appreciation for the bag and called out the haters, saying that “being rich makes you ignorant.” The video went viral, and she was invited to meet with the brand’s creator.
