A 34-year-old guy in Singapore was driving home after drinking with his wife, according to SinChew Daily. The man slammed on the accelerator and frighten the police while he waited for his father to get inside the car. The father lied and claimed that he was the driver in order to stop his son from being examined for drunk driving. He did not admit to lying until seven hours later. As a result, the police were unable to arrest his son for drunk driving because they lost the chance to give him a breath test immediately.
Owen Lin, a 58-year-old father was accused of spreading false information. On his birthday, August 23, he entered a guilty plea in court and began a two-week imprisonment. On December 4, 2021, the defendant’s son reportedly drove his wife home， and the two reportedly had dinner and drank Tower beer together. The son left for home at 3:30 the following morning after taking his wife to a temple for worship at 10:30 that evening.
While waiting for his father, the son gets out of the car and shouts angrily. This action causes police who are not on duty to call 911. The father was asked to give a statement by the police at around 10 o’clock that morning, but he continued to argue that he was the driver. 7 hours after the incident, the father admitted that he had lied. This also means that the father’s actions delayed the police from quickly giving a breathalyzer test to his son and prevented them from looking into and arresting him for drunk driving.
