A woman in China went on a diet and lost 23 kg. Still, she ended up with health problems like not having her period, losing a lot of hair, and being unable to handle the cold. Doctors checked her out and found that it was because of how she lost weight and that her periods had gone back to normal after she changed what she ate.
The Punch News said the 155-centimeter tall woman used to weigh 79 kg. She tried different ways to lose weight until last year when she stopped eating almost all carbs and only boiled vegetables and eggs. After six months, she had lost 23 kg.
Even though she lost weight, she started having health problems like missing her periods often, losing a lot of hair and having a hairline that got higher, and being afraid of the cold, which forced her to wear a jacket even in the summer.
She then went to the hospital’s gynecology and gastroenterology departments for checkups. She also went to the Chinese medicine department for treatment and changed her diet to be low in fat and high in protein, but after three months, her condition did not improve much.
She was then sent to the endocrinology department, where her doctor found that the lack of carbohydrates in her diet was the leading cause of her health problems. He told her that she should get 50% of her daily energy from carbohydrates, emphasized the need for a balanced diet, and said that the best way to lose weight is to “keep your mouth shut” and exercise.
After three months of changing her diet, the woman’s periods were back to normal, and she could handle the cold much better, but it took a while for the hair to grow along her hairline.
