Domestic banks’ FD interest rates
On January 19, Bank Negara unexpectedly did not raise interest rates, and the fixed deposit interest rates introduced by various domestic banks remained unchanged.
The fixed deposit interest rates of four banks as of January 22, 2023 are as follows: Maybank, CIMB, Public Bank, and AmBank.
Maybank offers 2.45% on 1-month fixed deposits, Public Bank 2.40%, CIMB 2.50%, and AmBank only 1.85%. Maybank and CIMB offer 2.65% on 2-month fixed deposits, Public Bank offers 2.60%, and Ambank only offers 1.85%.
Maybank and CIMB both offer 2.70% on 3-month fixed deposits, while Public Bank offers 2.65%. Maybank and CIMB offer 2.80% on 6-month fixed deposits, while Public Bank offers 2.75%. Maybank and Citibank offer 12-month fixed deposits.

You can choose a fixed deposit discount if you want to enjoy a higher fixed deposit interest rate (Promotional FD). Many banks in our country are currently offering more than 4% time deposit discounts, including Public Bank, AmBank, RHB, Bank Rakyat, Bank Muamalat, MBSB, and others.
