CNY will coincide with Hari Raya from 2029 to 2031!
The Chinese New Year usually falls at the end of January or the beginning of February on the Gregorian calendar. The Chinese New Year in 2023 is the earliest in recent years, falling on January 22 on the Gregorian calendar. In terms of Chinese New Year, the latest date is February 17, 2026.
The date of Eid al-Fitr varies from year to year because the Islamic calendar has only about 29 days in a month and only about 354 days in a year. If you look closely, you will notice that the date of Eid al-Fitr is moved forward by about 10 days each year.
Hari Raya 2021 is on May 13, Hari Raya 2022 is on May 2, Hari Raya 2023 is on April 22, and so on. If Hari Raya continues to advance by about 10 days each year, it will coincide with the Chinese New Year, known as Kongxi Raya, in 2029, 2030, and 2031.
It is worth noting that Kongxi Raya first appeared in Malaysia in 1964, 1965, 1966, 1996, 1997, and 1998, coinciding with Huawei’s Chinese New Year and Hari Raya. It happens every 32 to 33 years on average.
Here are the dates for Chinese New Year and Hari Raya from 2023 to 2032.
