Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 cases have remained below 500.
Since China reopened its borders on January 8, Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 cases have remained below 500. Since December 17, last year, our country has been recording three-digit daily cases.
Between January 8 and 17, a total of 28,705 Chinese visitors arrived in the country. So far, only one traveller has been found to have a fever during screening.
However, the traveller’s RTK-Ag test result was negative. So far, no Chinese visitors have tested positive for Covid-19 at Malaysia’s international entry points. Over the last two weeks, there has been an increase in the use of the second booster dose at health facilities across the country.
The number of first booster doses administered increased from 49.8 percent (16,279,746 doses) to 49.9 percent (16,292,524 doses) on January 1. The second booster dose increased by 2.2%, or 733,668 doses, compared to 1.9%, or 633,941 doses previously.
The Ministry of Health will continue to monitor the spread of infection in the country and abroad using data from the World Health Organization (WHO) and collaboration with other Asean countries and China. The ministry will always ensure that prevention and control measures are consistently implemented.
