Putrajaya is opposed to floating egg prices.
The government is sticking to its position of not floating the price of eggs and keeping it below the price controversy.
Despite requests from certain quarters, the government preferred to keep egg prices under control for the time being.
This problem involves egg supply and price control. In terms of supply, we are nearing the end of the stabilisation process. In terms of price control, the intention is to keep egg prices stable until our economy recovers and consumers regain purchasing power.
So far, the government has remained committed to maintaining the status quo.
Meanwhile, when asked about allegations that some egg retailers imposed additional charges for transportation and handling costs that burdened consumers.
The government cannot blame the retailers for this problem because the egg supply was not purchased at wholesale prices.
They can’t blame everything on the retailers. They will investigate the matter in collaboration with several ministries.
