5 banks provide new banknote exchange services.
The Chinese like to go to the bank every year before the Lunar New Year to exchange new banknotes for angpao. Wrapping red envelopes with new banknotes is not only a good idea, but it also makes the juniors who receive the new banknotes happy.
Bank Negara has reduced the supply of new banknotes in recent years by encouraging resource conservation and spending. Currently, the majority of banknotes provided by banks are refurbished banknotes. If the banknote numbers are consecutive, it is most likely a new note; if they are not, it is most likely a refurbished note.
