The government will announce good news about the home broadband package in the next few months!
According to the news issued by the Minister of Digital Communication Fahmy, the government will announce good news about Fixed Broadband in the next few months to reduce the burden of people’s life.
It is expected that the government will cooperate with domestic telecommunication companies to launch affordable home broadband packages. The monthly fee for unifi 30Mbps is now RM89, while the monthly fee for 100Mbps is RM129.
The HCM government had taken on home broadband when it successfully took over Putrajaya in 2018, when Streamyx was still the mainstream broadband in the country and Streamyx packages were starting at RM140. However, the HLM government subsequently succeeded in bringing down the price of Streamyx and accelerating the rollout of unifi network.
On December 21, Fame announced the Mobile Internet Unity Package (Pakej Perpaduan), a package that provides 30GB of internet data, and the internet data is valid for 6 months at a cost of RM30. However, the internet speed will be limited to 5Mbps.
The mobile internet solidarity package (Pakej Perpaduan) is targeted at the B40 low-income group, young people, the physically challenged (OKU), the elderly and the ex-military police. This package will be launched by Celcom-Digi, Maxis, U Mobile, TM and YTL Yes in February 2023.
