Did you know that electric cars can save up to 50% on maintenance costs compared to traditional fuel cars?
As the saying goes, it’s easy to buy a car and hard to maintain it. Buying a car only requires a one-time down payment and a monthly car loan, but maintaining a car requires fuel and regular maintenance costs. Electric cars can save car owners a lot of regular maintenance costs.
The reason why electric cars can save a lot of regular maintenance costs is that they have fewer moving parts and simpler electric car components.
Here are some of the things you need to maintain your electric car.
1. Fluids
Since electric vehicles are not equipped with internal combustion engines, they do not require regular oil changes. However, there are four types of fluids that need to be changed regularly, namely hydraulic brake fluid, battery coolant, HVAC refrigerants and transmission fluids.
2. 12V battery
Electric cars are also equipped with a 12V battery, which is used to power the dashboard, windows, turn signals, etc. EV owners still need to service the 12V battery regularly.
3. Tires, Brakes and Suspension
Just like fuel cars, electric cars need to have their tires, brake discs and suspension checked regularly to ensure that these parts are in good condition.
4. Filter
Electric cars do not require fuel, oil or engine air filters to be changed, although the air filters inside the car still need to be changed regularly, which prevents contaminants such as mold and dust from entering the car.
