Your boss wants you to show up for work on November 28th, then your  boss must pay you double or compensate you for one more holiday.

Employers should pay you double or compensate one more rest day for employees if they are working on Nov 28.

According to a statement issued by the Malaysian Ministry of Human Resources, Datuk Seri Anwar, Malaysia’s new Prime Minister, has designated November 28 (Monday) as a special holiday in accordance with Article 8 of the Public Holidays Act 1951.

Any day listed as a public holiday is a paid holiday under Section 60D(1)(b) of the Labor Act of 1955, which means that people working in the private sector are also entitled to paid leave.

Employers can choose to give their employees a holiday on November 28 (Monday), or they can let them choose other days instead. If the employer is unable to provide employees with compensatory leave on other days, the employees who work on that day must be paid according to the salary of the public holiday.

To put it simply, employers have 3 options, the first is to let employees have a holiday on November 28. The second option is to allow employees to work on November 28 but to give them another day off. The third option is that the employer pay double for employees who work on that day.
