past general elections’ voter turnout

The general election 15th is coming soon. No matter when the 15th general election takes place, it is certain that there is a very significant likelihood that it will take place in November of this year.

The Electoral Commission convenes to deliberate and announce the date of the general election once the Prime Minister declares that Parliament has been dissolved. The national election voting day will be closely watched by travellers working out of state because it will determine whether they can come home to vote.

Even if it falls on a working day, the election day is fixed for Monday or Tuesday. The voting day for past general elections often falls on Saturday or Sunday. But because the last general election was held on a Wednesday, many people are anxious about when the voting day for this election will be.

The turnout rate has increased compared to the last general election, although it has decreased from the most recent general election, according to turnout rates from prior general elections. In the 10th general election in 1999, 69% of eligible voters participated; in the 11th general election in 2014, 74% did.

In the 12th general election in 2008, 76% of voters participated; in the 13th general election in 2013, 85% of voters participated; and in the 2018 election, 82.32% of voters participated.

Leaders of Pakatan Harapan have been urging expats to vote in their home countries because a high turnout is generally expected to be advantageous to Pakatan Harapan. No matter which side you’re on, everyone should cast a ballot because it’s a civic responsibility.
