China now exports more cars than Germany, which is ranked second highest.
China automobile exports surpassed the historic milestone of 300,000 vehicles in a single month for the first time ever in August of this year, according to figures made public by the China Automobile Association. In September of this year, 301,000 China automobiles were exported. China exported 1.91 million vehicles in the first eight months of this year, more than Germany and second only to Japan.
The spike in China’s auto exports is mostly caused by the proliferation of new energy vehicles. The number of new energy vehicle exports in the first eight months of this year was 517,000.
The United States, Mexico, Japan, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Russia, Germany, South Korea, Australia, and Saudi Arabia are the top 10 countries to which China sells cars. The ranking is determined by the export price of automobiles.
SAIC, Chery, and Changzhou are the top three Chinese automakers according to export rankings. Tesla and Dongfeng came in fourth and fifth, respectively.
Great Wall Motors and BYD have both already announced plans to enter the Malaysian auto industry.
