An EPF self-contributor who is self-employed would receive RM300.
Exciting news! The i-Saraan programme, which provides self-employed people with a government subsidy of up to RM300 when they make their own EPF contributions, will continue to be implemented by the government.
When he introduced the 2023 Budget, Finance Minister Tunku Zafrul stated that the i-Saraan scheme would continue to be implemented in order to encourage self-employed people to contribute to their provident fund. Self-employed people can obtain government subsidies of up to RM300 under the i-Saraan programme.
Self-employed individuals just need to contribute to their EPF; the government will match 15% of that contribution, up to a maximum of RM300. The government announced that in 2023, the maximum allowed for i-Saraan would increase to RM300 from its current limit of RM250. More than 100,000 people could benefit from the RM30 million programme.
The government has also increased the annual maximum for self-contribution EPF from RM60,000 to RM100,000.
Participants in the i-Saraan programme who are self-employed are eligible for all EPF benefits, including dividends.
