Selangor Free Water Scheme reopens applications; families with a monthly income of RM5,000 are eligible for it.
The state of Selangor has increased the range of eligible families for free water, so now households with a monthly income of RM5,000 can also take use of this benefit. Starting on October 1, households with monthly incomes of RM5,000 or less may apply.
The Selangor state government started a free water initiative called Skim Air Darul Ehsan. People who have family earnings of less than RM5,000 can take advantage of this initiative and get the first 20 cubic metres of water free.
The Darul Mountain Water Supply Plan has 4 application requirements, including that the applicant be a Malaysian citizen and reside in Selangor. The household must have a separate water metre, the applicant’s household income cannot exceed RM5,000, and each applicant may only apply for one household.
Applications for the Daluyishan Water Supply Scheme will be accepted until December 31, 2024. There are two methods to apply.
The initial method of application is online. You can create an account at https://ssipr-daftar.selangor.gov.my/register and select to apply for Skim Air Darul Ehsan there.
The second approach entails using a paper form, filling it out, and delivering it to an Air Selangor office or a Social Service Center (Pusat Khidmat Masyarakat). The first 20 cubic metres of free water in Selangor were introduced in 2008, however as the population of the state continues to grow, the state administration is now under more strain. Beginning on March 1, 2020, the Selangor government will change the free water policy such that only households with a monthly income of less than RM4,000 are eligible. The Selangor government did decide to broaden the eligibility for free water benefits in August 2022, allowing families with household incomes of up to RM5,000 to take advantage of the programme.
The following people are eligible for the Selangor Free Water Program:
1. Applicants must be citizens of Malaysia and residents of Selangor
2. Monthly household income of less than RM5,000 (including spouse income, single person)
3. Low-cost HDB households may also apply, but they must have their applications approved by the Joint Management Body (JMB) or the Management Committee (MC)
