The Ministry of Environment and Water reports that starting on October 1, 2022, the sewage fees in Peninsular and Labuan would rise. For 28 years, the government has not changed the sewage fees.
The monthly sewage fee for Tangki Septik Individu would rise from RM2 to RM6 to RM7 to RM14. The monthly sewage for Perkhidmatan Bersambung would rise from RM2 to RM4 to RM10 per tank.
While the present monthly sewage fee assessed by the unit in question ranges from RM2 to RM6, the average monthly cost of emptying a single septic tank is RM22. Septic tank connections typically cost RM17 per month, and the present sewage fees assessed by the concerned units range from RM2 to RM8.
Beneficiaries of the e-Kasih programme are eligible for rebates on sewage fees in an effort to lessen the financial load on the populace.
