With the recent outbreak of one deposit theft case after another in domestic banks, the National Bank has spoken out asking commercial banks in the country to take more aggressive steps to curb deposit theft.
Due to the popularity of online banking, all banks in the country have launched their own mobile applications (apps). The National Bank requires banks to update their mobile apps instantly to avoid APP vulnerabilities that could lead to theft of users’ deposits.
If you are still using an older phone and the operating system of your phone is still a few years old, you may not be able to use the particular bank app for the next few months or a year.
According to the latest news from AmBank, only Android phones with Android 10 or above will be able to use the AmOnline App from 2023 onwards, while Android phones with Android 9 or below will not be able to use the AmOnline App anymore.
