What did the numbers on MyKad represent?

The National Registration Department (JPN) issues a Mykad to any Malaysian citizen who is 12 years of age or older. MyKad is a personal identification card that can represent the cardholder’s nationality.

Each owner of a MyKad card has their own set of ID numbers. Each MyKad will have a 12-digit number, and these 12 digits contain a lot of personal data.

The cardholder’s year, month, and date of birth are represented by the first six numerals of the MyKad. The cardholder’s state or territory is then represented by the seventh and eighth numbers, with a different number for each state.

The last four digits are the mantissa of the ID number, which is chosen at random.

The last number can also indicate a person’s gender.Boys are represented by odd numbers like 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9, whereas girls are represented by even numbers like 2, 4, 6, 8, 0.

The last two digits of the number represent your first Malaysia card, and there will also be a set of numbers on the back of the Malaysia card. If it’s 02, it’s the second MyKad; otherwise, it’s 03
