BKM is a government-run assistance scheme that aims to alleviate the burden of the low-income group. Families with a monthly income of up to RM5,000 and single persons with a monthly income of up to RM2,500 are eligible for BKM.
According to a release from the Ministry of Finance, the BKM grant will be paid in four phases, with phases 1 and 2 being paid in March and June, phase 3 in September and phase 4 in December.
In the past, BKM grant will be disbursed at the end of September, when recipients will receive the grant directly through their bank accounts. For those who do not have a bank account, they can go to BSN Bank to receive the payment in cash.
Prime Minister has said that the government will increase the BKM grant if inflation continues to rise in the country. With the inflation rate reaching 4.40% in July, it is very likely that the government will increase the BKM grant in September.
Government has not yet announced the exact date of the BKM grant, but the Prime Minister is expected to do so in the near future.
