The Minister of Education has announced that the new school year 2023 will continue to start in March.
According to a message from Senior Minister of Education Dato’ Radzi Jidin, the Ministry of Education has decided to maintain the school year 2023 in March after considering various factors. This means that the new school year 2023 will start on March 12 and 13, 2023.
There are several advantages to starting the school year in March, namely that the SPM exams can be held in December, which is the northeast monsoon season and flooding on the east coast every year.
Starting the new school year in March also shortens the window between the SPM exam and the next school year. In the past, students had to wait at least 6 months after the SPM exams before they could go on to higher education, but with the new school year schedule in place, students will only have to wait 3 months before they can go on to higher education.
According to the schedule previously released by the Ministry of Education, students will start their holidays on February 17 and 18 next year and the new school year will start on March 12 and 13 next year.
